- They are much cheaper than the UK!
- If you pick up a taxi at the Airport, you pay an additional $2 - this is actually to cover the cost of the facilities onsite for the drivers!
- Tolls are added to the meter reading at the end of the trip.
- If you go over the Harbour Bridge or through the Harbour Tunnel, you have to pay the toll as part of your fare - regardless of which direction you go (as a normal driver you only pay one way. However as a Taxi can't garentee a fare going in the other direction, everyone pays in a Taxi).
- If you pay by credit card, there is an additional fee (10% + GST =11%) for the privaledge
- Most Taxi's have a EFTPOS machine for payment - if they don't, and you have to fill in a paper docket/bill, make sure you check your credit card at a later date (don't forget the service charge) to make sure you have only been charged once, and for the correct amount
- Check that the meter is running the correct rate - daytime or nightime (higher charge)
